Six Months in South Africa

Today marks the 6-month anniversary of our mission in South Africa, so our 18-month commitment is 1/3 complete! We started on February 2, 2015 and are scheduled to finish on or about August 2, 2016. It has gone by so fast, and we are sure the next year will whizz by even faster!

We have lived in 3 flats, visited 3 other countries, made 3 trips to Cape Town, and have been in a position to bless many lives with our service, most notably our own! We have been blessed with many wonderful lifelong friends in our Killarney neighborhood and in Protea Glen, Soweto.

Martha with our mission car, a 2013 Nissan (rhymes with listen) Tiida (Tee-EE-duh) 4-door
sedan with steering wheel on the right and shifted with the left hand, which has served us
very well for our 6 months in Johannesburg, though driving on the opposite side of the road!

Here are some scenes taken on our way to and from Church in Soweto  today:

where we turn right into the neighborhood of our PG chapel.

Gauteng is the South African province (state) where the city of Johannesburg and township of Soweto are.

We are looking forward to the next twelve months here!
